Jungle Library
In the midst of the dense vegetation of the Peruvian Amazon jungle, where distances are measured in hours of walking and boat rides, and where there are no books except those carried by the wind, an initiative was born- one that continues to transform lives today. The non-profit organization TANQA, true to its motto: “Strengthening communities through human development” began its work serving remote communities, providing medical care with the goal of collecting books to create a Library for those who had been forgotten by the system for years.

At first, there were just a few: a dictionary, a textbook, an old novel. But book by book, hope by hope, the shelves began to fill. The community, seeing the growth, joined the dream. Young people who previously couldn’t read, today immerse themselves in literary worlds that transport them far away, even if only for a moment…
